Message from the Principal:
I am beyond excited to be coming "home" to Elkton Middle as Principal. I love Elkton Middle and the surrounding community and cannot wait for this adventure!
A little about me as a person and administrator... I grew up right outside of Rockingham County in Harriston and went to Fort Defiance High School. After that, I went to Bridgewater College and then to Shenandoah University for my Master's Degree. I started teaching in Augusta County at Stewart Middle School then transitioned to South River Elementary in Grottoes to teach fourth grade. I was fortunate to be the Assistant Principal at EMS from 2009-2014. The last four years I was Principal at Dayton Learning Center, now known as Rockingham Academy, and loved working with all of the schools within the county. My career goal of coming "home" to Elkton Middle as Principal was announced and I started officially on July 1st. I currently live in Grottoes with my husband and our daughter. We are active within our community as members of Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department and myself, as Mayor of Grottoes.
I am looking forward to this school year and getting to know each and everyone in the Elkton Middle community. I invite you as parents and family members to visit our school and see the great things that happen here!

**PLEASE REMIND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. WE HAVE numerous 6th grade students CURRENTLY THAT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED TDAP paperwork FOR**
It's hard to believe we are about to start our 2018-2019 school year. I can't believe how fast our summer break flew by. But I am ready to get back into a routine and before we know it summer will be here again. So buckle up and enjoy the time. 😊
Here are a few reminders from the clinic. Please share the information with others.
✅ Tdap shots- The nurse needs one of three things to check your child off for the first day.
#1- The paper immunization record showing you received the shot with the date.
#2- Note from the doctor that your child is not old enough but has an appointment to get on ______ date.
#3- You as their parent/guardian have the right to choose. So if you choose to not get immunizations then all we need is a religious or medical exemption form and make sure you fill it out with a notary.
**If you have your form faxed to the school at 540-298-0029 please call 540-298-1228 to confirm it was received.**
✅ Please swing by the clinic on back to school night Wednesday August 15th starting @ 5pm so you can turn in any prescription medication your child takes. Talk with me regarding their medical history (if needed). Update any inhaler, EPIPEN, food allergy forms that are on file.
** PLEASE** Do NOT assume the nurse knows. If it's important information to you regarding your child, it's very important to double check the nurse plus their teachers are aware.
Next week the nurse will be in/out of the building working in the clinic, at nursing meetings and preparing for the first day of school. You are welcome to call and see if she is here or drop information off in the office for her.
If it is rx medication you need to count medication with her and sign.
Thank you all for being patient and working with us to make this school year great for your son/daughter.
See you all soon,
Nurse Julie 😍
